| This is an applications course which introduces basic concepts and skills related to
microcomputer systems. This course provides a hands-on approach for learning word
processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing using Microsoft Office.
Students will also prepare slide presentations using Power Point. Network essentials,
use of the Internet, E-mail basics and hardware/software knowledge will be integrated
into the course along with relevant vocabulary. |

Students will learn fundamental art skills, including the correct use of color and
methods of adding depth, lighting, effect, and shadowing. They will be introduced to
sound capture and editing techniques, specifically as they are incorporated into
finished animation sequences. Students will learn procedures and features of various
software applications and how they work together to produce a final product. They
will also learn to identify appropriate authoring tools and demonstrate the ability to
import their finished graphics or animation. |

In this course, students will learn selected topics in Adobe InDesign CS3, Adobe
Illustrator CS3, and Adobe Photoshop CS3. Topics will include start-up skills in
InDesign, including how to work with text and set up a document, how to work with
frames, and how to work with colors. Illustrator skills will include basic instruction in
start-up, how to create text and gradients, how to draw and compose an illustration,
how to transform and distort objects, and how to work with layers. Photoshop
instructional topics include how to work with layers, make selections, incorporate
color techniques, and place type in an image. |
