| 9th Grade |
Incoming students, parent(s) and the counselor meet in the spring before the ninth grade year to create an individualized
four-year plan which is re-evaluated every spring.
Ninth graders participate in two standardized tests, the ACRE and PLAN. The PLAN is administered for practice and
preparation only as it is a standardized test normed to sophomores. Ninth graders also take the Stanford 10 achievement
test.
Ninth graders are introduced to the college process by way of researching colleges. All freshmen create an account on
Naviance, our web-based college counseling program, and complete three tasks: resumé builder, learning styles inventory
and requesting college information from two – three colleges. Upon receipt of that information, students are asked to
write a comparison essay in English classes assessing the differences between two colleges. |

| 10th Grade |
Re-evaluation of the four-year academic plan and registering for classes occurs in March/April of the ninth grade year in
anticipation of tenth grade.
Tenth graders participate in the Stanford 10, PSAT and PLAN as well as the ASVAB, a vocational battery administered
by the military. The counselor visits classes to distribute and explain the various results.
Students participate in a shortened version of the Myers-Briggs test (available on their Naviance account) and from it gain
insight about themselves and possible careers others with similar personalities have enjoyed.
Based on what students learn about themselves through the fall testing, sophomores contact colleges which more
specifically match their academic goals. They are asked again to write a comparison essay based on their research. All
sophomores continue their Naviance accounts: resumé builder and my personality type. |

| 11th Grade |
Students re-evaluate their four-year academic plan and meet with the counselor to select courses in order to meet
graduation requirements. This takes place the spring of the 10th grade year.
All juniors participate in the Annual College Day for juniors and seniors in October (typically on the day 9th and 10th
graders are taking the PLAN test). This required visitation day provides students with an organized college overview.
11th graders participate in the PSAT in October and become eligible for NMSQT (scholarship) competition. In the
spring, they take the Stanford 10.
The counselor hosts a Junior Parent College Sunday to kick-off the college process during the month of February.
11th graders take the SAT and the ACT in the spring of their junior year. |
|
| 12th Grade |
The ACRE Test is administered to all seniors.
All seniors attend the Annual College Day for juniors and seniors in October.
12th graders re-take standardized tests in the fall of their senior year, the SAT or ACT.
Throughout the senior year, seniors apply for various local and national scholarships. Check the Reicher College website
frequently for this information. |
All seniors fill out the Texas Common Application, create a personal resume and write a college essay during the fall of their senior
year. Each senior meets with the college counselor to discuss his/her college list. Students are encouraged to apply to between two (with at
least one application to a four-year school) and ten colleges. The counselor sends transcripts and copies of standardized testing as well as an
individualized letter of recommendation for each senior. |
