Reicher Catholic High School provides a rigorous academic program in all areas including those assessed by national
standardized tests. The purpose of Reicher’s testing program is to measure each student’s knowledge of these areas via regular
standardized national examinations.
EXPLORE Part of the ACT (a national college admission test) family of tests, this test is administered in the 8th grade
year at St. Louis Catholic School (Reicher’s primary feeder school). The EXPLORE provides nationally
standardized information as students prepare for college. It also aids students in a program of studies and
development of career goals. The highest score one can earn is 28.

PLAN Reicher Catholic High School administers the PLAN in the fall of the 9th and 10th grade years. Normed to
sophomores, the PLAN is also part of the ACT’s Educational Planning and Assessment System. This
integrated structure and curriculum based test gives results for college readiness in four categories: English,
mathematics, reading and science reasoning. A predictor of success on the ACT Assessment, the highest
possible score is 32. The PLAN continues to offer academic and career assessment.

ACT The ACT measures academic skills in English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. Many colleges
recommend students begin taking the ACT during the spring of their junior year. Registration material is
available through the college center. This test is administered locally at Baylor and MCC and results may be
used at all colleges and universities in the admission process. The highest possible score is 36.

STANFORD 10 A national achievement test administered to all 9th, 10th and 11th graders in the spring. The results are used to
help guide curriculum decisions.

PSAT The PSAT/NMSQT, Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, is a critical reasoning
test. It measures critical reading, mathematical problem-solving and writing skills, and scores range from 20 –
80 per category. Reicher Catholic High School administers the PSAT to all 10th and 11th graders in October.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announces commended scholars and semi-finalists in September
following the junior year. The highest possible score (selection index) is 240.

SAT The SAT I is a 3 hour and 45 minute critical reasoning test including essay. It measures how well you analyze and solve problems and is composed of three sections: critical reading, mathematics and writing. The SAT II, a one hour test, measures knowledge or skills in a particular subject. Some colleges require one (or more) Subject Test for admission. Registration material is available through the college center for both tests. This test is administered locally at Baylor and MCC and results may be used at all colleges and universities in the
admission process.

ASVAB The ASVAB, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, is a career exploration test. It contains an
interest inventory and several exercises to help students investigate prospective careers. This is administered
on the Reicher Catholic High School campus in the fall to sophomores and juniors.

ACRE The Assessment of Catechesis Religious Education is administered to all 9th and 12th graders in the fall. This test serves as a tool for assessing the effectiveness of catechetical education programs. It also assesses the held beliefs, attitudes and practices of tested students.

AP Exam The Advanced Placement exams are offered at Reicher in the spring. These tests cover 19 subject areas and colleges may grant incoming freshmen credit, placement, or both for qualifying AP Exam grades.
